Wilson Literacy Program

Does your child have a diagnosed reading disability and Wilson was recommended on their Educational Psychological report?

Wilson is specifically mentioned as the preferred intervention in an educational psychological report when a child has a diagnosed reading disability and only Bloom Learning offers Wilson.

What does it address?

Wilson is meant to support a child with a reading or writing disability in the areas of reading, spelling and fluency.  It is effective for students with dyslexia or persistent reading challenges.

Research Based Program

The Wilson Reading System is designed to help students who struggle with reading, particularly those with dyslexia or other language-based learning disabilities. Research has shown that WRS significantly enhances reading skills, including decoding, fluency, and comprehension.

Commitment to Success

Unlike our other programs, we recommend Wilson to be implemented twice a week (or more).  That more intense program requires this.  Note: If this is not possible, we can run it once a week (results vary).

Investment Details

This program is an investment of $85 per 45 minute session.  The intensive training and quality of programming for this level of instruction is the basis for the investment.

This fall (2026), we are excited to offer the Wilson Reading System (WRS) at Bloom Learning Centre. WRS is an evidence-based, structured literacy program designed to support students who struggle with reading and spelling.

Based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, Wilson teaches the structure of the English language in a systematic, multisensory way. Students engage visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning strategies to build strong reading and spelling skills.

 

Benefits of WRS include:

  • Improved decoding and spelling skills

  • Increased reading fluency and confidence

  • Better reading comprehension

  • Greater self-esteem through consistent success

Because this is a specialized, research-based program requiring intensive one-on-one instruction, sessions are $85 per 45 minute session. 

 

Scheduling Recommendations

  • Twice per week (recommended): Best for building consistency and achieving steady progress.

  • Once per week: Available if preferred, though progress may be slower.
